Trading and coin

Creatures in KEKRUNE don't carry purses. They drop parts: teeth, tallow, feathers, pelts. Your first coins come from selling those to folk who have a use for them. After that, coin moves between frogs through shops, trades, the market and the post.

All of it is in-game coin only. Nothing here costs real money.

Coins

There are three coins: copper, silver and gold. 100 copper makes a silver, and 100 silver make a gold. Every frog wakes with 50 copper in their pack.

Shops

Talk to a merchant and say trade to open their shop window. Shops never run out, and their prices don't change. If you're short on coins, the shop takes the rest from your bank balance.

WhereWhoWhat
The Kindling Grove, the broken cartMabry Fenn, the carterTorches, rope, potions, food, pouches, plain clothes and class gear for levels 1 to 3. She also buys what the grove's creatures drop, plus some common gear.
The Hearth outpost, by the GrovebridgeIset Coalby, the outpost tenderThe basics, so hunters can restock without walking back. Potions cost a little more here. She buys nothing.
The West RoadQuill Marrow, a travelling peddlerMabry's basics at about a tenth more (his mana potions are a copper cheaper), plus class gear for levels 4 to 6. He buys ditch-teeth and tallow.
The West Road, a field gateSedge FurrowBread (a copper cheaper than Mabry's), smoked fish and torches, once she knows you well enough to open the gate.
Harrowfield, the millHobb the millerBread, a torch, health potions and class gear for levels 7 to 8, once his fire is lit. He buys the farm's beast parts, and grey cloth, which nobody else takes.

Some prices from Mabry's cart: a torch costs 8 copper and a health potion 40. She pays 3 copper for a ditch-tooth.

A merchant buys common gear back at about a third of its price. No merchant ever buys rare gear or better. Those pieces are for keeping, trading or selling to other players. The best gear is never sold in any shop at all. You have to find it, earn it, or get it from another frog.

Trading with another frog

  1. Stand within 2 tiles of them. Right-click them and choose Trade, or drag an item from your bag onto them.
  2. Each side offers one item or one container. Offer a bag and everything in it goes along.
  3. Both sides press Accept. A summary shows exactly what you give and what you get. Then both sides press Confirm.
  4. If anything changes on either side, both accepts are cleared, and you start again. Nobody can slip a switch past you.
  5. The swap happens all at once, after a check that each of you can carry what you're getting.

Every row in the trade window shows what a merchant would pay for that item, which helps you spot a bad deal. Bound items can't be traded. Sending more than 10000 copper (one gold) in a single trade requires level 8.

The Hearth outpost: bank, depot, market and mail

Iset Coalby looks after all four until a proper town opens. Stand near her and press [B], or ask her about bank, depot, market or mail.

Bank. One balance per frog. You can deposit, withdraw, check your balance, or send coins to another frog by name. Transfers over one gold require level 8. Shops dip into your bank whenever you're short on coins.

Depot. Your own locker, holding up to 2000 items (a bag counts as itself plus everything in it). Only you can open it, and only at the desk. Each town will have its own locker, and things don't move between them. Your depot also has an inbox, where mail and market goods arrive.

Market board. One market for the whole world, and nobody's name on the offers.

Mail. Send a letter for 5 copper, or a parcel holding one item or container for 15 copper, to any frog by name. It lands in their home inbox, even if they're offline. A letter holds up to 240 characters. Parcels follow the same rules as trades: nothing bound, and nothing over a gold in coin below level 8. There's no cash on delivery, so pay for things another way.

Coming

The town that will hold the Lockhouse, a second depot and the class masters hasn't opened yet. For now, the Hearth outpost is everyone's home town.
