The Scarp
Go through the Watchtower Gate at the Grove's edge and the green wood gives up. The ground turns red, the sky gets big, and ahead on its own mesa stands the broken Watchtower with one warm light at the top.
The tower's long shadow sweeps across the Red Floor all day on the shared clock, so you can read the hour from anywhere in the land. Dusk lights the beacon. After dark, cold wind runs through the Narrows.
Redstep is the camp in the mesa's cut, with the Foot Fire to rest at. Corvin Bale keeps the gate, Maren Rusk tends the hurt, and Jory Pell walks her goats and has opinions about the old hour-marks.
