This is my book. Forty names. The farmhands who walked into the fields in the Long Night and never walked out. At dusk the fields give things back, with the flock. A spoon. A button.
Bring me one. Read it first. Then you choose: me, and the book, or the scarecrows, to keep the dark quiet for a night. I won't sulk. Much.
