Bardo, the Fire-Keeper
An old frog in a patched shawl, sitting as if the log grew round him.
Found in The Kindling Grove.
Mm. Sit if you like. The fire doesn't mind company.
Words they answer to
Greet them with hi, then say any of these: acorn food name job hearth rats wickmaw hare hushed night fire rising words spring stick berries arise bridge mabry iset buy blessings bless blessings trade oakhart tea. Words in gold in what they say are worth asking about too.
A day in their life
Bardo keeps to the world's one clock, the same for everyone. If you can't find them, try another hour.
- At dawn Bardo rakes the ashes, stacks the woodpile, feeds the wayfire and warms up by the fire.
- By day Bardo whittles on the log, feeds the wayfire, pokes at the fire, keeps watch, warms up by the fire and stacks the woodpile.
- At dusk Bardo cooks at the pot, smokes a pipe, feeds the wayfire and warms up by the fire.
- At night Bardo naps, pokes at the fire, smokes a pipe and warms up by the fire.
- In the rain Bardo huddles out of the rain and pokes at the fire.
