My eyes are gone, you see. I'd know the warmth of my own fire, but I couldn't see another. If anything lights down there, you'd tell me, wouldn't you?
Come up at dusk, when you can. The old frame is by the stairhead. Look through it and tell me what you see. Whatever it is.
